Bitpanda was founded in 2014 in Vienna, Austria with the aim of making investing accessible for everyone. 8 years later, and with more than 730 team members and 3.5 million users, they're one of the fastest growing fintech companies in Europe.

Business Needs

The major goal was to create a debit card that enables eligible customers to spend funds directly from any of their wallets - be that fiat, crypto, stocks, or metals. It was essential that the card is linked to and managed through a new section in the existing Bitpanda application.

Solution

We implemented a new solution in the existing Bitpanda ecosystem that handled the issuing, transactions, and management of the card. New microservices and data management solutions were implemented that handled high volumes of daily transactions and dealt with spikes in the crypto market in a graceful manner.

Results

Launching the card was a success and the number of card-issuing requests was well above expectations.

The card increased the daily trading volume by a considerable margin and allowed Bitpanda customers to spend their investments with ease.
